Welcome to Brock & Son, where passion meets purpose. We are Barbara Brock and her son, Brandon – partners in a shared love for vintage gems and expertly crafted goods.
We focus on three areas of interest:
Giving life to vintage towels and making them into tote bags that are perfect for the park or beach.
Refurbishing vintage mid century furniture.
Collecting high-quality vintage goods.
Each piece in our collection is one of one; they’re all hand made items.
The Longshot was located at 102 S Boyer Ave., Sandpoint, ID. We opened our doors September 7th, 2019. We were a natural wine bar, cafe and live music space. Our focus was to deliver beautifully designed products and experiences for the greater Sandpoint community and our visitors. We made a YouTube series about the project opening. I sold the business in 2022.
I was the marketing, growth & recruiting lead at Chime. Chime was a mobile application that allowed people to feel as though their friends and family were always within an arms reach; video chat on your own time. Chime’s small team was acquired by Raya.
Flying Piñata is a fun collaborative project I worked on with the Bakken & Bæck team. It's a mobile app that allows customers to order piñatas delivered by drones on demand to their location. Although this was a real project, it was equal part fun and marketing for the always creative B&B team, and I had the honor of helping out along the way as the company's CEO.
I was the founder and product manager on this mobile application. Player's View was a product that helped sports fans to discover and discuss all of the social posts from their favorite athletes and teams.
I was the founder and product manager on this mobile application. Challenge Accepted let you challenge your friends to fun and simple competitions. You could easily track and share these everyday events with your friends, and build an identity around things that you are an expert in.
I worked across several teams and organizations at Facebook from April, 2007 to May, 2011. I spent most of my time focused on culture, marketing and ads.
I'm a Co-Executive Producer in an incredible independent documentary film called Coyote: The Mike Plant Story. We had a successful festival run which included winning the Audience Award, Non-Fiction at the Twin Cities Film Festival. You can pre-order a digital copy of the film on iTunes here. Follow the film on Instagram for screening updates and more awesome content: www.instagram.com/coyote_movie
The film traces the daring path of American single-handed skipper, Mike Plant. When Plant went missing mid-Atlantic in 1992, the sailing world held its breath. After only five years of single-handed sailing, Plant logged over 100,000 miles at sea, twice set the American record for the fastest solo circumnavigation and was recognized as one of five skippers in history to complete three solo trips around the world.
An adrenaline-fueled life drifts in his wake, including a solo trek of South America (12,000 miles), an escape from Greek authorities on a drug-trafficking charge and time behind bars in a Portuguese prison. One can only wonder if the storm within Plant’s unconventional path in life contributed to his ability to stay alive during the storm at sea. In Plant’s words, his story “Proves that there are people with a sense of adventure and enough belief in themselves to take the risks and do things beyond the reach of everyday life – [life is] a great adventure.”
I'm an investor in a fantastic restaurant and natural wine bar named the The Four Horsemen. Located on Grand St. in Brooklyn, they serve food until 11pm and pour natural wine till late every day.
4H was awarded a Michelin Star in 2020, and won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program in 2022.
I am a proud angel investor in Wake, founded by one of my closest friends, Chris Kalani. Wake makes it super easy for designers to share work and collect feedback from their entire team from developers to sales people.
Wake was acquired by InVision in April of 2018. You can read more about it here.
I build all of our projects at Makerpoint Studios in Sandpoint, Idaho. I enjoy experimenting with new tools in the creative space, and have recently taken on metal working as seen with this custom fire pit I made for my cabin.
I enjoy the creative process from beginning to end, and set a personal goal of exceeding the expectations of each project. What can I say, I love doing this stuff.
Since 2011 I've dedicated a lot of my time to exploration, starting when I moved to Bondi Beach in June of that year. I love traveling and finding unique spots that evoke a special once-in-a-lifetime feeling as well as creative and inspiring larger cities that ooze energy. Some of my favorites places are: the Canadian Rockies, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, SaPa, Melbourne, Hanoi, Formentera, Barcelona, Oslo, Sandpoint, Burleigh Head, New York, Kauai and London.
